Connections Services
We’ll discuss with you your requirements for new services for each utility and complete the applications on your behalf. Before passing the quotes to you we’ll review them to ensure charges have been correctly applied and the design and quote is best value.
New Connections
Making utility connections can be a minefield, take longer than you think and more complicated than you imagined. Whether you require connections as a one off for home improvements or a builder or developer we can help.
We'll manage the connections from end to end, from application for design, quote, to connections and metering, we'll do the leg work so you get that time back.
Reusing existing connections
In many cases existing utilities can be reused when developing a site. They can certainly be used for your temporary builders supplies but it may also be possible to retain these for permanent use. We'll be able to advise you on this and even arrange for meters to registered for non household or commercial use. Supplies shared with other premises are unlikely to be able to be reused and you will need new connections.
With many commercial properties being converted from offices to residential properties, utilities are already present and in many cases it is a case of confirming that the existing supplies are sufficient. Electrical supplies in particular can often be converted to a BNO (Building Operator Network) which requires an electrician to make changes beyond the DNO cut out. You may need an upgrade if the required demand exceeds the existing carrying capacity of the supply.
Water supplies generally require individual feeds from the water mains in the street. If you've a large number of the flats in a block over three stories ,it may be possible to reuse the existing supply if it is large enough. You may also need to include some water storage and pumps to ensure each dwelling receives sufficient flow and pressure.
Multi-Utility
Depending on the type of development and scope of works it is sometimes beneficial to use a multi-utility provider, we'll take care of this if we think it would benefit your scheme. We'll provide you with costs for an alternative delivery route from the traditional companies.
